Muzz Buzz Express self-service coffee launched across WA
Seven West Media (WA) has partnered with drive-through coffee retailer Muzz Buzz to roll out self-serve coffee stations in newsagents and other retailers across Australia.
The Muzz Buzz Express concept will be trialled from next week at 20 stores in WA over three months before expanding interstate and potentially overseas.
The venture breaks new ground for the media company, owner of the Seven Network and The West Australian. Seven West Media (WA) head of commercial development Declan Cahill said it was a tremendous growth opportunity for both companies.
“We’re confident that newsagents and retailers will see the commercial potential of adding Muzz Buzz Express to their business, and by doing so drive sales growth and attract new customers,” Mr Cahill said.
Muzz Buzz executive chairman Warren Reynolds said store owners’ response had been “staggering”.
“They love the concept, they love the equipment and systems we put together, they love the branding and how that will affect their stores,” he said.
The newsagents will rent the next-generation Melitta machines for customers to use, with a low break-even threshold. The Muzz Buzz-branded self-service coffee units occupy less than one square metre. Using fresh milk and freshly ground beans, the Melitta touch-screen machines make the full suite of coffee products as well as hot chocolate.
He said self-serve was the fastest-growing commercial sector of the coffee industry worldwide. Australian Newsagents Federation chief executive Alf Maccioni said the product would complement its members’ offering.
“I can see how this will grow from strength to strength and help newsagents achieve a better bottom line,” Mr Maccioni said.
