As a West Australian owned and operated business, we’re fiercely proud of the local communities in which our stores operate, and have highlighted how that local knowledge can help foster strong, genuine connections with customers.
A key part of that spirit of community is giving back where we can, and encouraging others to do the same, particularly in the current economic environment.
Muzz Buzz has been a long-time supporter of a number of local charities and organisations, including Breast Cancer Care WA and the Perth Firefighters Calendar, both of whom we are supporting again this year.
We’re also always on the look out for other groups who are doing incredible things for the local community, which is why we also got behind the second annual Breaths and Beats charity ride and offered our support to the Desperate for Love Dog Pound.
As part of the D4L campaign we collected donations and sold air fresheners at our stores and also held a Free Pup Cup Day, raising more than $12,000 for the organisation, with that money going toward rescuing and rehoming dogs in Western Australia.
It’s a cause that remains close to our hearts, as my wife and I adopted our dog Jock around five years ago, and we believe more dogs deserve the opportunity to find a loving home.
In fact, we offered our support to another dog-rescue group again recently, supplying free coffee at the Dogs’ Refuge Home Open Day.
From a business perspective it’s a small gesture, but one we hoped would encourage more people to attend the Open Day and give what they could to support the Refuge and the incredible work they do.
The event raised almost $40,000 – of which the Muzz Buzz stall contributed more than $1000 – an outstanding result that will greatly assist in supporting dogs in their care.
The RSPCA recently awarded Muzz Buzz a Community Action Award for our D4L campaign, and while we are proud recipients, it was an unexpected recognition.
We simply hope that by showing our support, our customers are encouraged to do the same, whether it’s through donations, volunteering, or just raising awareness about some of these smaller groups who are doing extraordinary things.
Our decision to continue to support local groups and organisations isn’t in pursuit of accolades, but rather its an extension of our community-first spirit and our belief that as a local business we should continue to support the local communities that support us.
